Ethan "Birdy" Dixon
Hello, there! My name is Ethan, but sometimes I like to go by my internet handle "Birdy". I have no preferred pronouns, but I don't use it/its.
I'm a game and software developer from Maryland with a multitude of interests, fixations, and hobbies. I'm not very good at this whole "talking about yourself" thing, so here a few things about me:
- Before college, I had programming experience largely thanks to Minecraft. I wrote game mods in Java and using the game’s scripting language, which uses a lot of JSON.
- I love music! I play a couple of instruments, including oboe, piano, guitar, and electric bass. I'm trying to learn some other instruments, like the mandolin and flute, and I also practice singing. I like composing electronic music in my free time, usually ambient, post-rock, or drum and bass.
- I started playing D&D when I was somewhere between 6 and 8 years old: before I could do math! My dad introduced me to the game with 1994 Red Box, and I developed an interest in storytelling and worldbuilding thanks to it.
- I like to call myself a writer, though my catalogue of published works is very small. I had a short story of mine published in a small anthology with the Maryland Teen Writer's Association in 2019, and I've posted a grand total of one of my fanfics.
- I am deathly afraid of spiders, but I'm also fascinated with them and don't like killing them - even the dangerous ones.
- In 2022, I developed a hyperfixation with the 2017 DuckTales reboot after binging the whole show while sick with COVID. The fixation lasted for six months. My friends still tease me to this day about it.
